Simon's Update

What a fantastic week it’s been at Brookfield! A huge shout-out to our wonderful Year 6s, who have been having a brilliant time at PGL. They have shown such positivity – cheering each other on, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, and embracing lots of new challenges. We are so proud of the teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm they’ve shown throughout the trip.

Back at school, it’s been a busy and exciting week. Year 4 have been developing their brilliant book art projects in their art workshops – the creativity on display is inspiring! Miriam, our visiting philosopher, spent time working with Year 2, encouraging thoughtful discussions and big ideas.

Meanwhile, Year 3 enjoyed their Forest School sessions in the woods, exploring nature and building their teamwork skills. Thank you, as always, to our staff for making these enriching experiences possible and to our children for throwing themselves into everything with such enthusiasm.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be returning to Brookfield from Monday 6th - Friday 10th October.

The book fair is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore a wide range of exciting books and to develop their love of reading. Even better, every book purchased helps to raise money for the school - so your support will directly benefit all Brookfield children.

We will be sharing more information about timings and how you can purchase books next week, and hope to see lots of you throughout the week of the fair.

Brookfield School Community

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Flask last week!

We are busy planning our Brookfield School Community events and fundraising for this year. If there is an extracurricular activity for Brookfield children you are passionate about, or an area you have experience with that could help our fundraising and community organising, every bit of involvement helps. We'd love to hear your thoughts. Email us: committee@brookfield.sch.org.uk

For those who couldn't make it last week, there is a coffee morning after drop off on Tuesday 30th September.

Also, a reminder that this year's AGM will be held on Tuesday 14th October. The meeting will take place in the evening, but you will also be able to participate online.

Saving the planet with Brookfield

Welcome to all new parents and carers! Brookfield has taken a number of steps to address its environmental footprint, including improving energy-efficiency (not easy for a Victorian building), better separation of waste and making an effort to reunite lost property with owners. One success has been the Brookfield Buy/Sell/Give group - reducing our collective need to buy new stuff.

It's an ongoing challenge and one we'd love your help with. Perhaps you have ideas based on your personal or professional experience? Or just a willingness to get involved. Join the Brookfield Climate Action Group (BCAG) if you're interested. There's also a Brookfield Growers group keeping an eye on the school allotment up in Waterlow park, all green thumbs and apprentices welcome!
