Simon's Update
This week we marked Anti-Racism Week with assemblies, lessons and stories woven across the school. Together we reflected on how everyone should feel welcome and included, that we stand up for one another if we see unkindness, and that we always share worries with a trusted adult. These themes link closely to our core values of kindness and responsibility, helping us to build a school community where every child feels safe, happy and respected.
Year 4 have also completed their inspiring artist workshops with Alix, creating some beautiful mixed-media books, and our new Maple Room has already provided a calm and creative space for art sessions and philosophy discussions. Looking ahead, next week promises a real highlight: Liz Pichon, of Tom Gates fame, will be visiting on Wednesday morning to sign copies of her brand-new book. Finally, as autumn really begins to bite, please ensure children come to school with waterproof coats and sensible shoes—we plan to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, whatever the weather!
Year 4 have just completed their inspiring artist workshops with Alix, producing some truly beautiful mixed-media books that showcase both creativity and careful craft.I've also tasked Year 4 with creating the school newspaper with Ivy class working on the first issue and then Bramble class will have that a sa project to work on after the half term.
It’s also been wonderful to see the children working in our new Maple Room too, which has already provided a calm and creative setting for art sessions and even some thought-provoking philosophy discussions.
Looking ahead, next week brings a real highlight: on Wednesday morning we’ll be welcoming Liz Pichon, of Tom Gates fame, who will be signing copies of her brand-new book for the children.
With autumn now settling in, please do remember to send pupils in with waterproof coats and sensible shoes—we plan to make the most of the outdoors whatever the weather!

Liz Pichon visiting Brookfield!
We're getting excited for our visit from Liz Pichon, author of bestselling Tom Gates book, and former Brookfield pupil, who will be visiting us on Wednesday morning, 8th October. Liz will be signing books for children at a book sale in the morning before school. She will then be hosting an assembly with children from key stage 2. We are also looking forward to showing her our newly refreshed library, with cosy reading spots, and new books curated and purchased following the diverse book appeal last term. Please do come along to the junior playground, from 8.15am.
You can pre order books using the following link, and take advantage of a discount, using the code BROOKFIELDTG25 (selecting the option for free delivery)
Scholastic Book Fair
We are delighted to let you know that our Book Fair will be running at school from Monday 6th October to Friday 10th October. This is a fantastic opportunity for children and families to explore a wide range of books and support a love of reading, while also raising rewards for our school library. With every book purchased, Scholastic will give the school money to spend on new titles for our library!
📍 Location & Times
The Book Fair will take place in the football cage on the junior playground each day from 3:15pm to 3:45pm. Please note that the gates will close promptly at 3:45pm.
💳 Payment
The fair will be entirely cashless. Parents and carers will be able to pay quickly and securely by scanning a QR code at the fair and paying online.
It is very important that you select the correct school when making a payment:
Brookfield Primary School, Chester Road.
📚 If a book sells out
If a title runs out at the fair, you can still purchase a copy from the Scholastic online store: www.scholastic.co.uk
We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for supporting reading at Brookfield.
Brookfield School Community
Our Annual General Meeting this year will take place on Tuesday 14th October at 8pm at the school in the bottom hall.
Please join us to hear the Headteachers report on how funds raised by the BSC supported the school last year and outline his plans for this year. Details on how you can participate online will be shared in next weeks newsletter.
Thank you to those who came to our coffee morning on Tuesday - keep your suggestions coming and as always every bit of involvement helps. Get in touch by emailing us: committee@brookfieldsch.org.uk
