As we reach the end of another fantastic school year, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate what an incredible community Brookfield is.
Today we said goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 children as they begin the next exciting chapter of their journey. It was a truly special day, filled with pride, celebration and, of course, a few tears. I wanted to say just how proud we all are of these amazing young people. They have been absolute stars throughout the year, embracing every opportunity, supporting one another and making the very most of their final year at Brookfield. They leave us ready for the next step, full of confidence and with memories that will stay with them for years to come.
To our Year 6 children, I want to say thank you. Thank you for your enthusiasm, kindness and determination. To your families, thank you for your unwavering support throughout your children's time with us. And to our incredible staff, thank you for the care, commitment and dedication you show every single day. It has been an absolute joy to watch these children grow into the remarkable young people they are today.
I also wanted to share some fantastic news about our children's achievements this year. Brookfield pupils have performed exceptionally well in their assessments. Our Year 6 SATs results in reading, writing and mathematics are significantly above the national averages, reflecting the hard work and determination of both our children and staff.
The success doesn't stop there. Our Year 4 children absolutely smashed their Multiplication Tables Check, achieving results well above the national average. Our Year 1 children also performed brilliantly in the Phonics Screening Check, and our Reception children have achieved outstanding outcomes in their Early Years assessments, once again both exceeding national averages.
These results are something we are incredibly proud of, but they tell only part of the story. At Brookfield, we are just as proud of the kindness, resilience, creativity and confidence our children demonstrate every day. Academic success is important, but it sits alongside the values that make Brookfield such a special place to learn and grow.
As we head into the summer break, I want to thank every member of our Brookfield family for making this another unforgettable year. Together we have celebrated successes, overcome challenges, supported one another and continued to build the warm, caring community that makes Brookfield so special.
I wish all of our children, families and staff a happy, restful and well-deserved summer holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 7th September, ready for another exciting year together but for 25/26 - that's a wrap!

Important News - Free School Meals
Important Update: Changes to Free School Meals and Pupil PremiumDear Parents and Carers,
We want to let you know about some important national changes to Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium that will come into effect from September 2026.
These changes may affect your family, so we encourage everyone who receives Universal Credit to read the information below.
What is changing?
From September 2026, the Government is expanding Free School Meals so that all children in households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for Free School Meals. The current household earnings threshold of £7,400 per year will be removed. This means many more children will qualify for free school meals.
What about Pupil Premium?Although more children will become eligible for Free School Meals, the rules for Pupil Premium are not changing.
A child will only attract Pupil Premium funding if they meet the existing Targeted Free School Meals eligibility criteria (including the current income threshold). Children who qualify under the new expanded Free School Meals rules will receive free school meals but will not automatically attract Pupil Premium funding.
Why should I still apply?Even if you are unsure whether you qualify, it is important to apply.
- Your child could receive a free, healthy meal every school day, helping to reduce family food costs.
- Families could save around £495 per child each year on school lunches.
- If your child is eligible for Targeted Free School Meals, the school may also receive Pupil Premium funding, which helps us provide additional support, resources and opportunities for eligible pupils.
Please don't worry.
Some families who apply before September 2026 may not qualify under the current rules because the existing income threshold still applies.
However, once the new national rules begin in September 2026, many of these families may become eligible. If your application is unsuccessful now and you receive Universal Credit, we strongly encourage you to apply again after the new rules come into effect.

Visit to the V&A Storerooms
Some of our Year 4 children were lucky enough to enjoy a fantastic trip to the V&A East Storehouse in East London to explore the fascinating David Bowie exhibition.
A huge thank you to Arianna for organising this wonderful opportunity. The children had an amazing time discovering the exhibition and exploring the incredible collections on display.
The V&A East Storehouse is a truly inspiring place to visit, with so much to see and discover. If you're looking for something to do over the summer holidays, it's well worth a visit!

We’d like to say a huge thank you for your support throughout the year. Your generosity and involvement have helped make our Brookfield School Community events and activities such a success.
Together, this school year we raised nearly £50,000 for our school.
