 Simons Update

This week has felt like our first proper taste of autumn! We’ve had some very rainy weather, our first wet playtimes of the year, and the first sightings of cozy jumpers making an appearance. We even popped the heating on for a little while to make sure everyone was warm and comfortable across the school. Autumn has definitely arrived at Brookfield!

It’s also been a slightly unusual week without our Year 6 children in school. During my weekly parent tour, I was particularly sad not to be able to pop into their classrooms and say hello! However, they’ve been having an absolutely brilliant time at PGL, enjoying the countryside, taking on some incredible activities and challenging themselves in all sorts of new ways. We can’t wait to hear all their stories when they return!

Back at Brookfield, we enjoyed a wonderful Harvest assembly, thanks to Fred and Abby from Brookfield Growers. It was fantastic to hear about all the wonderful things growing right on our doorstep, and the children were particularly amazed by the rainbow sweetcorn growing just up the road! I would thoroughly recommend that anyone interested in getting involved heads over to the growing beds in Waterlow Park on Friday afternoons. It’s such a brilliant community project, and we’re very lucky to have it so close to school.

Our Brookfield Parliament is also beginning to take shape, with elections taking place across the school and children being voted into their first term of office! We have heard so many fantastic speeches, full of thoughtful ideas, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make Brookfield even better. I have been so impressed by the number of children keen to get involved, and I'm sorry that we've had to limit the number of places given just how much interest there has been. Our newly elected MPs have an important first job ahead of them: listening carefully to their classmates and making sure their ideas, views and suggestions are represented as we work together to improve the experience of everyone at Brookfield. I’m really excited to see what they come up with!

Finally, a big shout-out for the Parents’ Social on 22nd October! I’ll be there and am looking forward to sharing some of our school priorities for the year ahead, talking about where we want to take Brookfield next and, most importantly, having the chance to catch up with lots of you. I hope to see you there.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Simon

Attendance Aardvark Champions for the 9th October

Brookfield’s whole-school attendance currently stands at 96.1%, which is a tremendous achievement and a significant improvement compared with this time last year. Most importantly, this means that more children are in school, making the most of their learning opportunities and missing out on less valuable learning time!

On Monday, we begin our weekly attendance raffle! All children who achieved 100% attendance last week will be entered into the draw, with the chance to take home a much-coveted, super-cool and utterly adorable animal eraser!

Please see below for your child's class attendance.
