 Simons Update

A Warm Welcome Back to Brookfield!

What a joy it has been to open our gates and welcome everyone back to Brookfield for the start of a brand-new academic year! There has been such a lovely buzz around school, and it has been wonderful to see our children returning with so much enthusiasm and excitement.

We have also been delighted to welcome four new teachers to our Brookfield team: Eva in Reception, Lily in Year 3, Ari in Year 4 and Bethan in Year 5. They have all made brilliant starts, and we are so pleased to have them as part of our Brookfield community.

Our New Brookfield Values

This week, we have been very excited to introduce our new school values. In our Brookfield community:

We are curious.
We are creative.
We take responsibility.
We rise to challenges!

Throughout the week, children have been exploring what these values mean and what they look like in practice, both in their classrooms and during our daily assemblies. We want every child to understand not only our values, but also the part they play in making Brookfield a safe, happy and welcoming place where everyone can thrive.

To help us with this, every child has been given their very own Brookfield Induction Passport!

The children have been challenged to learn our new values and demonstrate all the important behaviours that show they know what it means to belong at Brookfield. This includes things such as moving around school safely, knowing how to play happily and respectfully with friends, taking responsibility for keeping their classroom tidy, and making positive choices throughout the school day.

Each time a child demonstrates one of these behaviours, an adult will tick and initial their passport. Once they have successfully completed all the steps, they will receive a limited-edition, one-of-a-kind colourful Brookfield sticker!

We will also be sending home a reflection sheet so that families can join in too. You can help your child practise learning our values and talk together about the different expectations on their Brookfield checklist.

I have been so impressed by how motivated the children have been to show us that they know exactly what belonging at Brookfield means. Already, there is a wonderful sense of pride, kindness and responsibility across the school.

It has been a fantastic start to the year, and Brookfield has felt like such a warm, happy and purposeful place for all our children. We are really looking forward to everything this new academic year will bring.

Welcome back, everyone — here’s to a wonderful year at Brookfield!

Parents Evening

Our first parents evening this school year will be taking place on Thursday 15th October. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher and discuss their progress. You will be able to book appointments starting from Friday 18th September. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Brookfield School Community

A big warm welcome to everyone from the Brookfield School Community.  What a great start to September we’ve had already!  A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers who run the BSC stall at the York Rise Street Fair on Saturday 5 September.  The stall raised an incredible £915 for our school and it was wonderful to see so many Brookfield families gather round it at this very busy and noisy Fair.  A special mention to Reception parents Ilya and Maria who operated the candy floss machine non-stop for almost 4 hours!  The money raised was partly matched funded by the employer of one of our parent volunteers: a reminder to everyone to find out whether your employer offers a matched funding scheme as it's a great way to increase our fundraising.

To find out more about our fundraising and all things BSC, we would like to invite you to the following:
Evening drinks at the Star Pub on Thursday 24 September from 8pm, and
Coffee Morning at the Highgate Newtown Community Centre on Friday 25 September 9am.

Please come and say hello and share ideas on how we can all bring our school community together, raise funds, support  the school and enrich the school experience of all Brookfield children.
Other local news: Starting this term, there will be a weekly children’s chess club on Tuesdays 4.30-5.30pm at  Highgate Library.  More information at Highgate Library, Chester Road.

Allergies

At Brookfield, the safety, care and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do. As an important reminder, if you haven’t already done so, please ensure that Caterlink, our school meal provider, is aware of any food allergies or intolerances your child may have by clicking the link below.
