 Simon Update

 Dear Families,

Happy half term, everyone!

As we reach the end of our first half term, I wanted to wish all our children and families a really lovely week ahead.

We have certainly packed an enormous amount into these first few weeks, and I couldn't be prouder of how well our children have started the school year. From their enthusiasm for learning to the friendships, kindness and confidence we see developing every day, there has been so much to celebrate.

A huge thank you to our brilliant staff for all their hard work, and to you, our families, for your continued support. Brookfield is a special community, and it's lovely to see everyone settling into another exciting year together.

Parent Governor Elections

Thank you to everyone who has expressed an interest in becoming a parent governor and helping to shape the future of Brookfield.

We will be sharing the candidates' statements with families this week, giving everyone an opportunity to learn a little more about those standing for election before casting their votes. Please do take the time to read these when they arrive. Our parent governors play an important role in school life, and your participation really matters. Voting will open after half term!

A Few Reminders and Ways to Get Involved

Before everyone heads off for a well-earned break, I wanted to give a quick reminder of a few ways you might be able to support our school community.

Could you spare a little time?

We would love some support in opening up our library at lunch times for children who would prefer a quieter time - could you or a family member be that person? Please email head@brookfield.camden.sch.uk

The Brookfield LIFT Project

We're continuing our determination to improve accessibility at Brookfield. Although Camden is unable to fund a passenger lift at its current estimated cost, we are bringing together a group of parents, carers, staff and community members to explore how we might make this happen.

If you have fundraising ideas, useful contacts, relevant experience or simply the enthusiasm to help, we'd love you to join our LIFT Squad. Please contact Rosie at r.wedderburn@brookfield.camden.sch.uk.

Help Us Tell the Brookfield Story

We're also looking for someone with skills in filming, editing or content creation who could help us produce short videos showcasing the wonderful things happening at Brookfield. We want more families to see what makes our school such a creative, inclusive and special place.

If you can help, or know someone who might, please email me at head@brookfield.camden.sch.uk.

Finally…

I hope the coming week gives everyone a chance to slow down a little, enjoy time together and recharge after such a busy start to the year.

Thank you, as always, for everything you bring to our wonderful school community. We have so much to look forward to, and I'm excited about all that lies ahead.

Have a fantastic half term, everyone!

Best wishes,

Simon

The Brookfield School Community AGM

We held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 22 October, where Simon shared the school’s priorities for the year ahead and how BSC funding will help support them.  Please see here the BSC accounts for the period from 01/09/2025 to 31/08/2026 and Simon’s funding proposal for the year ahead.

One of the key priorities, following the extreme temperatures we experienced last summer, is finding ways to keep the school cooler, avoid closures and create a more comfortable environment for our children and staff.  We will work closely with the school and the parent led Climate Action Group to help move this project forward and will keep you updated on progress.  If you would like to find out more about the Climate Action Group or the BSC in the general and how you can get involved, please email committee@brookfieldsch.org.uk

We also elected the BSC Committee for this year:

• Co-chairs: Niki and Kimberley
• Treasurer: Sam
• Committee members: Matt, Stella, Abby, Jo and Kate (Climate Action representative)

We look forward to working with you all to raise funds, support the school and bring our community together. Stick around after the Head and Chair of Governors coffee morning on Friday 6 November at 9am to find out how you can help at our biggest event of the year, the Winter Fair on Saturday 5 December.

And please come along to support our Year 6 leavers’ fundraising efforts on Thursday 5 November at pick up time: they will be hosting a very special bake sale to raise money for their leavers’ hoodies, yearbooks and disco.
