Simons Update
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful half-term break and managed to enjoy some time together as families.
Firstly, a huge thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility this week. I don't think any of us expected to return from half-term to gas problems!
Unfortunately, this has meant that we've had to close our Chester Road entrance for at least the next few weeks. As I write this, diggers are currently doing what diggers do best, digging a rather large trench through our playground! This is all part of the work to install new pipework, reconnect our gas supply and get our heating back up and running.
In the meantime, we've placed additional heaters in every learning space, and by being particularly careful about keeping doors closed, especially corridor doors and those between different areas of the school, we've managed to keep the warmth in. I'm really pleased to say that the school has remained comfortable for all our children, and learning has continued as normal.
We're still in discussions about exactly how long the work will take, but in the meantime, we're certainly giving our new school value, rise to a challenge, a very good run for its money! What better way to put it to the test than during our very first week back?
Thank you again for all your kind messages, encouragement and support. It really does mean a great deal. We'll share more news as soon as we have it and, hopefully, it won't be too long before the diggers have finished digging and things are back to normal!
Attendance Aardvark Champions
Our whole-school attendance target remains 96%, and every class has a part to play! Every child, every class, every day – great attendance, great learning!

Fire Safety Work shops - Tips for home!
This week, our Year 2 and Year 5 children enjoyed visits from the London Fire Brigade, learning all about fire safety and how to keep themselves and others safe.
A big thank you to Rouchelle from the London Fire Brigade for visiting us and sharing a really useful resource to help families carry out fire safety checks at home.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes to complete the London Fire Brigade Home Fire Safety Check. It's a simple way to help keep everyone safe!

NSPCC and Online Safety
The online world is constantly changing, and keeping up with the latest apps, games and technology isn't always easy! As a school, we want to work alongside families to help our children enjoy the benefits of being online while understanding how to stay safe.
The NSPCC has a fantastic range of free advice and resources for parents and carers, including guidance on social media, online gaming, group chats, privacy settings and how to talk to children about their online experiences.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes to explore these resources, particularly if your child is beginning to use new apps, games or devices.

Their top tip this week: Ask your child to show you their favourite game or app. Let them teach you how it works! It's a great way to start a conversation about what they enjoy, who they interact with and how they stay safe.
